STORY: Why not make technical writing easier?

"Why do you need a screen capture program anyway - can't you just use the
Print Screen key?" a conference attendee asked.

Dan the technical writer supressed laughter. "You can . . ." he began,
"if you have a lot of time on your hands."

"What's the difference?" the man said suspiciously.

"I use SnagIt because it saves me time. It allows you to capture an exact
copy of anything that appears on my Windows screen - I can get just a
menu, a Web page, a button and more!"

"Wait - you mean, you don't have to edit it all out?"

"No. You can choose exactly what you want. And, you can capture images,
text - even video."

"Can I save my preferences? Can I annotate my captures? Can I save an
entire Web page as a single image?" the man asked.

"Yes, yes and yes," Dan said solemnly.

Still dubious, the man asked, "Hey . . . what do you do?"

Dan straightened his spine and lowered his voice a few octaves. He said,
"I am a technical writer. And therefore I know of what I speak."
