TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
Not sure how we got started down the path that posts were creating
unwelcome in-box traffic. I haven't heard anyone claim there's a volume
problem, and as others have suggested there are plenty of alternatives
for managing voluminous mail.
Likewise, as Rose pointed out, there are already very clear guidelines
for what's an acceptable post and what's not. People are scolded and
bounced as a matter of course, if it gets that bad. Evidently there's a
glitch in the existing system.
<silly Friday idea>Hmmmm, maybe we could declare our mood variables at
the beginning of each message, like you can do in LiveJournal. And one
for your opinion of the previous post. That way others could check the
beginning of the message and decide if we want to read on.
Mood:Grumpy
Opinion:Annoying post

learning Jython syntax.)
