Verbals are *very* annoying. Neither fish nor fowl.
I wish someone would do something about this.

I can't remember how we used to (those of us
who grew up in the middle of the last century)
diagram the passive participle. Does it hang
off the noun like a normal, healthy adjective,
of is it coupled to the "to be" verb in some bizarre way that is seldom mentioned in polite company?

I just googled on "diagramming sentences" and got to a site that answers that question. Here's the diagram:

Note that the example uses a present participle rather than a past participle, but I don't see a difference in principle.
