Young Writers Program - Plea for Donations for Scholarship Fund

I am asking for charitable donations for a children's educational
program, the Great Valley Writing Project, part of the National
Writing Project. Every year they have summer writing camps for 4th
and 5th grade children. It is a half-day, two-week intensive
writing workshop that teaches all aspects of creative and
professional writing. The children are selected by teacher
recommendation--a reward for excellence and interest in writing.

The camps have always been free. This year, due to state budget
cuts, the camps will cost $250 per child. This price will prove an
insurmountable barrier for some of the families whose children were
recommended to attend. Therefore, the Great Valley Writing Project
needs donations to fund scholarships for those children.

Here are the contacts for the project:

Randee Harcrow, Project Assistant: rharcrow -at- csustan -dot- edu

ANNOUNCE: Techwriter tshirts, mugs, mousepads, and lunch boxes

Tired of seeing all the great shirts for techies on thinkgeek.com?
Sick of your one oversized men's RTFM tshirt?

http://www.cafeshops.com/techspeak gives you more choices.

Finally, there are shirts (for men *and* women), lunchboxes,
mousepads, calendars, clocks, and more
for technical writers, arguably the group with the most to say
about the Dilbertian state of tech, and best able to say it.

Slogans include the following: more are added frequently.

* "Tell Me About Typos When the Software Works."
* The technical writer coat of arms: manuals, Adobe, the
perennial role as a software band-aid, and RTFM -- in Latin.
* "It's Not About the Commas."
* "The Edit is Due Back at Noon Friday. Or I Eat Your Liver."

STORY: New release! Get SnagIt 6.3!

Dan the technical writer was excited about the task before him. Someone
on
the TECHWR-l list had asked his favorite question: "What's the best screen
capture program?"

He composed his posting very carefully, and wrote:

I use SnagIt, the leader in screen capture software. In fact, today
TechSmith released a new version! SnagIt 6.3 boasts:

1. Edge Effects - Use a Drop Shadow, Torn Edge, Wave Edge or Faded Edge to
add a stylish and distinctive look to your screenshots.

2. 16 New File Formats - This makes a total of 23 file formats in which
you
can save and export screenshots.

3. Excel Add-In - Place SnagIt right in your Excel toolbar.

Dan read over his words and posted the message. He could barely believe
he'd found the time to write it. After all, he had a lot of exploring to
do
in the new version.

"Sleeping, eating, working - all will fall by the wayside!" Dan declared,
"For there is a new version I must conquer . . . and all of screen
capture-dom will be mine!"

Take control of your own screen capture needs! Download a free 30-day
evaluation of the latest and greatest version of SnagIt at
