Others have mentioned Steve Hudson's guidelines on master documents
(http://www.raycomm.com/techwhirl/masterdocs.doc), but I remain skeptical.
Given the number of people who have reported problems ranging from the
merely frustrating to the disastrous, I advocate caution. If a feature
doesn't work predictably for _everyone_, and there's no universally
applicable explanation for what things cause the feature to fail, I wouldn't
depend on that feature for important work.
