STORY: Talking about SnagIt 6.3 - new version
Dan the technical writer was incredibly intimidated. He'd agreed to go on
a blind date, and now he was sitting next to a woman that was not only
extremely attractive, but smart, funny and nice. He didn't know how he
was going to get through dinner.
"So, Dan, I know you're a technical writer. What's going on in the field
of tech writing?" she asked.
Dan thought of all the issues discussed in detail on TECHWR-l. He thought
of his day-to-day frustrations and accomplishments. He thought of how
well 'Dilbert' portrayed his job. He thought . . . he realized he wasn't
speaking and she was beginning to look anxious.
"SnagIt," Dan blurted. "SnagIt is the screen capture tool I use - along
with seven million other users. It's particularly useful to technical
writers, since you don't have to crop, you can annotate, and you can send
your captures anywhere."
"In fact," he rushed, "SnagIt 6.3 just came out - now you can output in 16
additional file formats and use Edge Effects which make every screenshot
look professional. I use it every day," he finished.
"SnagIt . . . I think I've heard of that before," she responded, seemingly
interested.
"Well, if you ever want to, you can try it free for 30 days," he said,
happy to be conversing in a normal fashion.
Over dinner, their talk turned from work, to backgrounds, to personal
thoughts about the future. While finishing her drink she said, "So, SnagIt
free for 30 days? I'm glad you'll be around to see me through the
evaluation process . . . at least."
Dan silently toasted his technical writing tool, SnagIt. He'd never come
up with a better ice breaker.

Young Writers Program - Plea for Donations for Scholarship Fund
I am asking for charitable donations for a children's educational
program, the Great Valley Writing Project, part of the National
Writing Project. Every year they have summer writing camps for 4th
and 5th grade children. It is a half-day, two-week intensive
writing workshop that teaches all aspects of creative and
professional writing. The children are selected by teacher
recommendation--a reward for excellence and interest in writing.
The camps have always been free. This year, due to state budget
cuts, the camps will cost $250 per child. This price will prove an
insurmountable barrier for some of the families whose children were
recommended to attend. Therefore, the Great Valley Writing Project
needs donations to fund scholarships for those children.
Here are the contacts for the project:

STORY: New release! Get SnagIt 6.3!
Dan the technical writer was excited about the task before him. Someone
on
the TECHWR-l list had asked his favorite question: "What's the best screen
capture program?"
He composed his posting very carefully, and wrote:
I use SnagIt, the leader in screen capture software. In fact, today
TechSmith released a new version! SnagIt 6.3 boasts:
1. Edge Effects - Use a Drop Shadow, Torn Edge, Wave Edge or Faded Edge to
add a stylish and distinctive look to your screenshots.
2. 16 New File Formats - This makes a total of 23 file formats in which
you
can save and export screenshots.
3. Excel Add-In - Place SnagIt right in your Excel toolbar.
Dan read over his words and posted the message. He could barely believe
he'd found the time to write it. After all, he had a lot of exploring to
do
in the new version.
"Sleeping, eating, working - all will fall by the wayside!" Dan declared,
"For there is a new version I must conquer . . . and all of screen
capture-dom will be mine!"
Take control of your own screen capture needs! Download a free 30-day
evaluation of the latest and greatest version of SnagIt at
