Not picking on Goober, in particular, but just observing that a year or two ago, only one or two of the cognoscenti on this list mentioned snopes, and that was usually after several posts treating whatever urban myth was trotted out as if it were true. Today, on the other hand, ALL of the responses to the original post have been pointers to snopes, including at least one off-list response (mine) but probably others', too.

So we seem to be a fairly trainable troupe of monkeys in some respects. Now why can't we all learn not to reply to off-topic posts?

Just wondering ... ;-)
