this has been my experience as well in 15 years of tech writing for companies like UPS, Canon, and the US Marines... which is why I've always wondered... no one has ever seemed to care that my degree is in PSYCHOLOGY! So, I'm wondering why anyone should bother...

In 10 years I've been a tech writer, and I've interviewed at many places,
NOBODY has ever asked me if I had a Ph.D in tech writing and I've never seen
it as a requirement.
