Give ScanSoft PDF Converter a try (http://www.scansoft.com/). The retail
price right now is $50. It works great with Acrobat 5 PDFs. I took a PDF,
obviously created in FrameMaker, that was all tables, opened it in Word with
the BETA of PDF Converter. Saved the Word version as PDF. The two pdfs were
identical.

Hi Geoff:

We do have the original(s) of this document. Going back 12 years in
PageMaker, then to HTML, then to Word, then to FrameMaker.

And, yes, we are going to use the HTML.

BUT -- this seems to me to be a regression. I was using Acrobat 5 and never
have I had such poor results. If it could at least get all the text in the
right order that would be -- acceptable.

It seems like maybe this was a strategic decision by Adobe to attempt to
lock people into Acrobat? But what it's doing is really pissing off the
SMEs and adding fuel to their arguments that we should stay in Word and
never go the FM/Acrobat route.
