So, the plot thickens. Could there be hidden characters in there that are causing the problem -- are "pr" and "s" considered valid words for some reason?

David...I did a simple copy/paste and copied your paragraph
to a Word document on my machine, removed the quotes and ran spellcheck. It did not flag them for spelling on my version, v2000, either.
