"Besides tailoring the achievements for the posted job, refining the goal
statement, avoiding buzzwords, and the T-letter to cover requirements, can
anyone give me some up-to-date tips on contents, formatting, and so on?"

Hi Karen,

First, I always addressed my cover letter to the person posting the job. And
if the job doesnt have a name then I address it to HR.

I start my cover letter with my skills, my bilingualism and what I can do
for the company and how we can achieve goals together. I mention my
background and make sure it is the perfect background they are looking for
to fulfill the position. I distinguish myself in the cover letter mostly.
They read it first so it is the first impression they will have of you. So
make sure your grammar, spelling and the english level is above average.
Dont use super intellectual words that you dont usually use because if you
do get that phone call, they'll see right through you.
And last but not least, do not lie about the contents of your letter or your
resume.
I know a place where they think they hired the right person and then put him
in the position and he has no idea what or how to do it. He then gets fired
because he lied about his qualifications on his resume.
so be careful about that..I hope this helps.

/Grace
