- I provided a company in Belarus with an estimate of $3 page for proofreading
before I did a sample page for it (t'was editing, really, and not
proofreading) . They evidently want me to do the work, but I feel that my rate
(which was low because I wanted to be competitive) is far too low. I feel that
I need to tell the company that I need to charge $5 per page. We never came to
any firm agreement. In fact, what I said in my bid was this: " I could charge
you as little as $3 per page, depending on how quickly I can
proofread the text." Should I just come right out and say it? Should I just
stay with the $3 per page and be glad at least to have the work? Should I tell
them that I would prefer a page-per-hour arrangement with an hourly rate?
- The company sent me a nondisclosure agreement to sign and fax back to them,
and has asked me what payment procedure I would prefer. Any recommendations?
- Are digital signatures feasible for small businesses to obtain these days,
or should I just forget about it, and go down to Kinko's?
