I'm having my own difficulties with Word. I'm using
Word 2002 v 10 on a system running Windows XP.
Sometimes, but not always, if I try to change font
properties, I get an error message that reads "The
number must be between 1 and 600." This has happened
both when I'm directly formatting font on the page,
and when I'm creating or editing style specifications.

I can discern no trigger conditions that determine why
the message window appears. It opens when I select
"Format > Font." After I close the message window the
font properties wizard appears as per normal. However,
I cannot make any changes on that wizard, or even
change to a different tab on that wizard. When I click
either the "OK" button or one of the tab headings, the
same error message reappears.

I have been all over the Microsoft support site and
can't find any mention of this problem. I posted there
a couple of weeks ago but so far have not received any
response. Anyone have any ideas why this happens?
