Which is what I ended up doing.
My client got their word document, with a much much faster print time - down
from 30mins to 2mins.
I found out about potential postscript printing problems with dotted lines.
I also realised there were many other ways of formatting my tables without
dotted lines.
Bob got a warm glow from helping me out of a sticky situation.
