That job ad doesn't sound so harsh. I was doing equal
or more work as a "base level" writer. Now I do more,
am no longer a "base level" writer, and am compensated
for it.

Companies are not going to pay you to do minimal work
anymore. Those wonderful (?) days of the 1990's are
over. Expect to work for your paycheck, and expect to
be well compensated when you go above and beyond
what's required. (May not be the case for all
companies, but from what I've seen, it fits the
majority I know.)
