This is not so unbelievable. The U.S. Army has had the same requirement for
their Family of Medium Technical Vehicles (trucks to us civilians) for many
years, well before I started on that project back in '98. They even went as
far as having the placards on the vehicles labeled with p.c. terms. From
what I had heard, it was all because of the complaints of one bureaucrat who
had personal issues with the standard terminology.
