Re XML-based workflows and all that, and assuming that Microsoft's
version of XML will be rather more proprietary than not, that might be
another reason to eye OpenOffice.org and its XML file format and
filters. I'm assuming by then that there'll be better heavy duty
technical documentation features and of course by then it will be fully
supported on Mac.

On the other hand, InDesign with some beefed up Framemakerish
capabilities (apparently right now the dynamic cross referencing to page
numbers is nonexistent) would rock.
