TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
Since many of us have to deal with policies and procedures documents, and
related questions pop up on techwr-l periodically, I thought I'd forward the
following resource, excerpted from Tara Calishain's "Research Buzz"
newsletter (http://www.researchbuzz.com/)
* Handfuls of Handbooks
Yes, you can gather collections of just about anything on the Web. Here
we've got a collection of over 950 policy handbooks from 691universities and
colleges in the United States. The collection is called the University
Policy Handbook Index and it's available at http://www.campus-adr.org/Staff_Admin_Building/searchpolicies.html .
Searching is simple; keyword search with the option to select a subset of
books (Faculty handbooks from all institutions, Handbooks from Baccalaureate
/ Associate's Colleges, etc. There is of course the default option to
search all textbooks.)

"I don't read literary theory anymore; it makes my brain hurt... I have way
too much time on my hands and way too little to think about. In this
respect, the laundromat is not much different from the English department
office."--Tim Morris, U of Texas English professor ("Suds", in _The American
Scholar_)
