Ah ha! I disagree. I did "work-for-hire" for my two Dreamweaver/Fireworks Saavy books, and am granted credit by the author in the beginning of the book along with all the other work for hire writers on the "dream team." I would call that a published writing credit.
I think that's a gray area. An impartial observer _might_ consider you published under that circumstance. But I wouldn't bet the farm on it.
