Yes, indeed, it is the Internet, but that doesn't mean that the poster is
not a real flesh and blood person. Would those who respond scathingly on
line respond similarly face to face? Hot-tempered replies to questions do,
as heycindd points out, discourage the more faint-hearted among us from
posting what could be legitimate and interesting questions. I would prefer
to waste a few moments reading a perhaps naive question than risk scaring
away newbie writers.
