Many years ago, before I was a techwriter, I used to manage a bookstore that had 13 employees. I used to say to them, "Come and tell me when you've done something out of the ordinary in your job, something that went well, something you are proud of, because I might not notice otherwise!" They all looked at me as though I was crazy. I still think it's a good idea, but it is hard to do, particularly when one is far removed from the powers that be. John's ideas are great, now if only I had the nerve to implement them...
