Yes, it's the same company, but Elance also has other product than the
Online Services Auction business, they also have an enterprise level
Services and Procurement Management application with some very big names
using it.
And just to be fair, its not Elance that is unprofessional, its many of
the service providers. A lot of them are actually in other countries
and can afford to lowball bids and other things. And part of the
problem too, is educating buyers on what to expect from professional
writers and what is actually a fair price for a project. Savvy Buyers
know the difference. There is a lot of competition on Elance.

Subject: RE: don't believe the offshore hype
valid points all... especially in regards to other countries taking over
writing in languages other than English, rather than English docs being
translated.
However.. in the past few days, if my skimming yielded the correct
flavour of the posts, and its the same company you're citing, people
have been dissing Elance as being somewhat less than professional.
I still believe that that kind of business won't prevail. In the end,
people who are paying a lot of money for a product... be it hardware, or
a software system.... will demand that they get their money's worth. The
companies who thrive over the long term DO provide quality products and
service, and realize that its worth paying the price for good, qualified
employees.
I guess my point was... yeah, there will be some culling in our
industry, but the strongest of the species will survive...
