Most messages for this thread focus on foreigner's bad English. As
markets expand to the whole world, who will care if the original
document is written in English or in any other language?

For now, most foreigners have to learn English in order to write
documentation(that's just what I had to do). As India and other
countries become target markets too, maybe documentation will be created
in other languages and then translated to English.

I work for two companies right now. One's main market is the US,
documentation is written in English and than partly translated. The
other's main market is mixed. Documentation is written in French and
than translated to another French locale and to English.

I bet some of these developing countries will start creating products
based on their own requirements pretty soon. They won't stay our eastern
corporation's puppets. As their own local markets grow, they might just
decide to create products in their own language and translate them to
English afterwards.

My guess is, competition will be rough at first. Then, some kind of
"equilibrium" will happen, each writer will write in it's first
language.

That's what I think might happen to us tech writers, but as I am writing
this, I'm starting to wish I could translate from India's main language
to English, French or Spanish! Translators will be very rich people!
