As many hoops as are cost effective :) If I regularly edit Joe's stuff
(not 30 other people's stuff) and Joe is traumatized by red ink, but is
otherwise a capable writer (yes, there are a lot of "if"s there) then
I'll probably grab a different pen.

Or in fewer words, pick your battles :)
