Do a search on the term in Google and check out a selection of web pages
on that subject. Many of the web pages have logos (I looked). They
should give you an idea of the form that the icon should resemble.

Mind you, I'm not talking about replicating someone's logo as your icon,
but if you look at enough web logos, you'll start to see commonalities
that you can incorporate into your own design...and ideas are what you
were looking for anyway, right?
