Yaacov Garber asks again:

>I am still in need of an idea. Again any help would be appreciated.

Yaacov:

Brainstorming a new symbol or icon is, in effect, trying to guess what
the "hook" will be to enable your readers to remember what the icon
represents. This is akin to asking a group of fishermen what they are
currently using for bait.

Try this (what you are not asking for):
Create three versions of a sample document using three different icons
to represent the same thing. Give copies of each one to several
different people and solicit feedback on how well the icon serves to
prompt their recall, etc. (whatever you are trying to use the icon for
in the first place). Then use the icon that seems to be the most
effective at serving the purpose for which it is intended.

Suggested icons (what you are asking for):
- An open book (already suggested)
- A pillar with the inscription, "theory" clearly visible on it
- A mirror with the inscription "theory" clearly visible on the frame
- A window with the inscription "theory" clearly visible on it
- A pair of glasses with a light gray tint or shading

"If (and when) any of these icons become internationally recognized, I
hereby claim all rights and trademarks."
