I'd say that if this is the biggest problem you have at work, you probably
don't have enough work to do. Style guides are suggestions, not commandments
from God. If you can't work because you're in a quandry about which commas to
use, then your priorities are seriously out of whack. Just settle in on
something that works, use it consistently, and move along.
