When I was a hiring manager, what people had studied was of very little
significance to me. What I was interested in was how they went about
learning. Some of the best interview discussions were (in part) about art
history or French or physics or whatever, subjects that interested the
candidates. I learned a lot about them by asking what interested them in
their subject of choice, and by asking them to tell me how they had
journeyed from that subject to tech writing.
