At an STC conference I attended (which shall remain unspecified) I
attended one of the post-conference tutorials given by tech-writing
celebrities. It was intended to be a small group--instead, the conference
organizers overbooked it such that it became less a tutorial and more a
lecture (the tutorial-givers didn't really have any choice--there was no
good way to adapt the usually highly interactive presentation to a much
larger group of people than expected). The friend I attended with and I
were EXTREMELY disappointed, and you can judge the value I (or my company)
got for the $200 or so spent when I say that I cannot at this point even
remember what the presentation was about.

Just a caution to the organizers and the attendees!
