A friend of mine was hired by an employer several
years ago to use specific tools to implement a
single-source solution.

That went well, the savings in time, effort, and cost
along with the benefits in improved turnaround time
and accuracy were immediately measurable.

But, the environment at the company seems not so
mature, such that my friend sometimes found they had 6
direct managers on a given project, each with
different directives.

These directives ultimately made it impossible to use
a structured approach (content-based) for single
sourcing and led to some divergence and a regression
to multi-sourcing (and there has since been complaints
and some blame about decreased turnaround, etc., my
friend is keeping low and moving fast).

The funny part was my friend's long-time manager who,
when told that having 6 different managers per project
requiring changes and ignoring or stifling suggestions
meant a structured solution was unworkable said, "Oh,
I understand, like whether there's one or two spaces
after a period."

ROFLMAO!!

Thought you'd all get a kick out of that one.
