Can anyone recommend a training course to help one become a techie writer?
Techie writer being one who prepares documents for software developers -
API docs, SDKs, developer's guide etc. Also, any ideas on how to become
one will be most appreciated. I did try searching the archives but got no
results.

Gee, I don't understand why you didn't find anything. After all, I've only shamelessly plugged my own school oodles (a highly technical term that) of times. :)

At the time I attended, the University of Washington's Technical Communication department was only one of three in the entire U.S. that was part of the Engineering (as opposed to Arts & Sciences or similar) Department. Of course, one prerequisite was a high degree of fluency in the language in which you'll be communicating (in my case, English).

One "training course" would just begin to scratch the surface of this field, just like one would just begin to teach you about the intricacies of a programming language.

A number of colleges and universities have good degree programs in the field. Unfortunately, I know of no list that would let you browse easily, so you may have to do a Google search.
