Regarding the recent posts about work on spec (proposals, tests...):

Normally when you do work-for-hire the employer retains copyright on everything you produce for them. IANAL but if the "hire" hasn't actually happened yet, you are within your rights to retain copyright on work you create prior to signing a contract. So if you have to submit work on spec, try putting a prominent copyright notice on it and make it clear than you retain ownership. If they really are gaslighting you, the copyright notice might wake them up and possibly turn the tables.
