Well, in defense of John's analogy...

I've eaten at the Palm. Once. I was either just pre-school or early school age, so we're talking late Eisenhower/early JFK era. I remember the restaurant, what we had to eat, the service (good enough to impress a five year old!!), the artwork on the walls, even the fact that "Steve Canyon" cartoon artist Milton Caniff was dining at a nearby table. I was about five, and yet at almost any time in the intervening years if you'd raised the subject of that restaurant (as John did), I'd instantly recall that one time I dined there.

By contrast, I'm pretty sure I've eaten at a Sizzler, but for the life of me I could not tell you where or when.
