To check for broken links (and other interactive items):
ARTS Link Checker, which used to be a separate product,
was recently merged with ARTS Link Tool, into
ARTS PDF Linker [ http://www.artsPDF.com ].
The merged version adds the capability to check
the validity of web links.

Other link-related problems -- such as missing links,
duplicate links, valid links placed incorrectly, links
which do not have the required visual properties --
have to be identified manually through inspecting
the PDF.

[ ARTS Link Checker, previously known as Ari's Link
Checker by Dionis, is included in the course materials
of my FrameMaker-to-Acrobat Advance Technique
seminar ]
