Also when taking Internet cautions into consideration, Google your own
name from time to time.
What I have found changes every month or so.
In addition, depending on how common your name is, there may be many
unrelated entries. For instance, there is a local politician in Arizona
named Mary Rose Wilcox, and I am often asked if I am her or related to
her. Her name comes up when searching on my name as much as mine
without my middle initial does. In addition other people named "Rose A.
Wilcox" come up when I Google with my middle initial.
Some but not all of my posts to this group or others show up cross
referenced in Google, and, as I said, the list changes from month to
month.
I guess you are safest if you are named a very common name and the more
unique your name is, the worse it will be. You can also keep separate
IDs without your given name if this is a concern.
The ability to use other handles and the confusion between folks of the
same name also makes the employer's time to "Google-check" an applicant
less than useful. Even if employers are doing this, this may be a case
of "garbage in, garbage out".
I'm now going to search on all your names... <giggle>... Just kiddin'!
