First, don't even think about using GIFs in PageMaker. When the stars are properly aligned, one may function well enough; but they are not supported.

Second, to fix the problem:

Open the GIFs in Photoshop. Image > Mode > RGB. Save As ... TIFF or JPEG (your choice, but TIFF is preferable with PageMaker).

Relink the images in the publication. Watch the Control Palette to ensure that you don't distort them. (PageMaker will make the new image the same _dimensions_ as the old image, irrespective of what this does to the horizontal and vertical scaling percentages; so you may need to adjust manually.)

Try exporting again.
