That's where the STC fails miserably as a professional organisation.
Externally, the STC should be promoting tech comm to all industries to the
point where hiring managers have a high expectation for tech comm
departments and a positive outlook on their worth to the company.
I think STC is painfully aware that they've failed to take a leadership position in promoting our profession. I know that the current president is anxious to change that situation, and make STC influential in industry and in government. Which will ultimately benefit the profession.
