Windows 98 SE allows you to define a folder as View As Web Page, which
(among other things) displays thumbnails of graphic files in the left-hand
panel. This setting can be folder-specific, so certain folders display the
left-hand panel at the same time that other folders display file lists only.
Very useful when only certain folders are used for graphic files.

As far as I can tell, Windows XP replaced this with Show Common Tasks In
Folders (accessed through Tools|Folder Options), which displays the
left-hand panel (with thumbnails, etc.) in *all* windows -- even if you
*don't* click the Apply To All Folders button and you *do* select Remember
Each Folder's View Settings (both in the View tab). Is there a way to make
the left-hand panel folder-specific in Windows XP?

Thanks,

Dan Goldstein
