Re: Contacting people who create manuals for gaming software.
I am particularly interested in
writing manuals/guides for gaming software programs. Can anyone put me in
touch with someone who does this kind of writing and may be willing to do
a phone or email interview? Any leads would be greatly appreciated.
And the STC International website lists the game documentation developers who won awards in the STC International competition last year:
http://www.stc.org/internationalCompetitions_winners_ITPC.asp
That lists the names of the technical communicators in the award-winning _Tao Feng: Fist of the Lotus game booklet_, _NFL Fever 2004 Game Manual_ and _Inside Pitch 2003 manual_. With their names and company, it shouldn't be too hard to track them down.
Also, I think of Dennis Wixon, who's published a lot of tech comm articles (see http://tc.eserver.org/authors/Wixon,_Dennis). He used to be with Microsoft Usability and is now involved with Microsoft Games. You can probably find his e-mail address from the microsoft.com website.
Hope this helps,
--Geoff
