The italicized word Microsoft with the registered trademark is their company
logo. Look at how the first letter O and the S overlap and how the F and T
connect. Someone got paid big bucks for designing how that word looks.

Were you thinking of the wavy red, blue, yellow, and green graphic, by any
chance? That's the MS Windows logo rather than Microsoft itself. MS doesn't
display the Microsoft logo on each page, but there is a logo of some form on
every page that I looked at. Anything that involves a product includes the
product icon instead of the company icon.
