I'm still confused. Say my husband, the programmer, works onsite and gets paid Corp to Corp where the "recruitment" firm requires Liability insurance. The husband falls down a flight of stairs at the client's office and he sues his own insurance company? Or does he sue the recruiter? Or the client?

I'm trying to understand a very practical case where this insurance would be necessary. If you got into a car accident in the parking lot whether you were W2 or representing a Corporation you'd still go through your auto insurance, not the employer's, right?

Confused....

Regarding liability insurance and errors and omissions:

I can speak for the state of Illinois and the state of Arizona. In both
states it was strongly advised by legal counsel to have this coverage.
It is part of operating costs. I've never needed to use it, but I've never
needed to use my homeowner's insurance, either. I wouldn't want to be in any
situation without it.
To define liability insurance: this insurance covers accident, including
physical car accidents on the client's site. It includes unusual stuff your
regular car insurance may not include. There is, usually, overlap.
