I just used the www.fedex.com rate finder to get a rate for a
package from ZIP 89701 to my postal code here in Ottawa in 3 to
7 business days.
For a package of 6 pounds at 18 x 12 x 12 inches being shipped
FedEx Ground, at a declared value of $55, they want $11.85 USD.

If the weight goes up to ten pounds and the size up to
one-and-a-half cubed (18x18x18 inches) and the value up
to $150, the shipping cost goes to $27.30.

At a two-foot cube, it's $39.

So, if they insist on using a jumbo box and stuffing nine
pounds of padding into it, they can ship it via FedEx for
half the price of shipping USPS.

---- end of "screed" ----

Now, does the .... um, ability, yeah ... to read a
complaint about a single practice by a single company
(that just happens to reside in the US) as "another baseless
anti-American screed"... does that fit well with a job
that requires discernment and objectivity, not to mention
the occasional need to hold sharp pointy objects?
