In 1994 I was contractin gin Massachsetts for ~ 33 USD/hr.
I then lived abroad for a number of years, doing tech writing. Now upon my return I am being offered contracts at 30 - 35 USD again.

I sense contracts are going down to $40 and less. I've seen them that
low. But, there's a point of no return. For example, to fix my car
costs $70/hour in labor. Same for a plumber. Except on weekends. The
guy who mows my lawn or plows my driveway charges 30. At some point,
it makes sense to do that work myself and not take a gig.

$40 a high? Sounds low.
