Why do you think that single sourcing should mean that your online
docs must look like your hardcopy docs?
This is not at all necessary, as it happens. There are various XML
technologies, for instance, that make this fairly routine once they
are set up properly.
A Web technology that illustrates the power of this kind of change is
www.csszengarden.com, which uses many different .css files to
transform the same HTML file so thoroughly that the result is quite
amazing. Similar results are quite feasible with XML-based docs.
If you're working with Frame, I believe WebWorks Publisher can create
your online versions quite capably, or so I'm told.
