We agree. I just thought of another issue as I read this, though. We all know the definition of a specialist as someone who knows more and more about less and less until he knows absolutely everything about absolutely nothing. If you have spent years and years involved in spacecraft design, your brain is wired to think in terms of weightless, no-such-thing-as-up conditions. Until someone bops you on the noggin and reminds you that this gizmo is for _landing_ the craft, _after_ it is no longer in orbit and has returned to a gravity environment, you might not think to ask the question about the mounting. From a process perspective, this question should be built in; but from a human psychology perspective, maybe the oversight is at least a little bit understandable, even if it's not excusable on that basis.
