For me, "Type" works for most text fields in most GUIs. If I ever had a GUI
that allowed spoken or handwritten input information into a field, I would
document it to include those options:
Ex: "Type or speak the last four digits of your dog's zip code."
I don't always follow the MMoS, which is no better or worse than other style
guides. As David Patterson once quoted a client: "The wonderful thing about
standards is that there are so many from which you can choose."
