It used to be, back when you had to know DOS to use a
computer. I think the GUI turned it into the modern equivalent
of hieroglyphics, along with the rest of the command line
terminology. I would explain the entire concept as if it had
just been invented, because for the vast majority of modern
PC users, it might just as well have been.
