Well that was certainly odd! I took no offense from your e-mail. I
don't know why someone else would try to take some for me. Offense
hunger? Maybe there are people starving for offense in her office
and she didn't want to see any wasted? I don't know.

Oh well, I am actually curious to hear more of your opinions on
this topic. I am fairly isolated as a writer and due to my long
service to this company, hold a fair amount of autonomy. I realize
my relationship with my employer is probably not typical.

Anyway, to answer your question, Yes my employer understands my
views and respects them. As I mentioned, I have earned the
reputation of being dependable after 10 years of service. So my day
to day activities are pretty much left up to me. I manage others in
a similar manner. I am not here to babysit. So you are free to do
your work as you please. So long as the work gets done. Now, if at
your review I see that you are not meeting deadlines, then I'll need
to look at your work practices and see if you need more structure.
But I start each work relationship under the assumption that we are
both adults and professionals.

Recently however, I have had to put on more of a show, as my desk
is now along the customer parade route and it wouldn't due for me to
be kicked back with my feet on the desk, surfin the net during one
of the customer tours!

Cheers!

Oh, and here's a vague insult so those starving for offense won't
have to work so hard:

May the fleas of a thousand camels infest your underwear! B^)~

Thank-you! I appreciate having my words taken at face-value, since
that
is how I meant them to be taken.

It seems to me that standards have changed from six or seven years
ago.
What is not clear to me is how official the change is.
