TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
A list member kindly pointed out that I've been using the wrong means to
call attention to the poll questions (thanks!). He was concerned that with
all of the poll questions and their associated responses, he might miss a
"real" ADMIN message. I looked back through the archives and realized that
only my first poll followed the correct protocol (which I'm picking up
again now). So, from now on, if you see ADMIN, you'll know either I'm
telling you something really important or I'm yellin' at someone! *grin*
The subject of usability has been hit pretty hard in the past few days,
and it will soon be time to move on to another topic (hint, hint). But
before we go on, I thought it would be interesting to see how each of you
relates being a usability expert to your current position.
Do you consider yourself to be a usability expert?
* Of course--I know our products inside and out!
* I study our users, so yes, I am a usability expert
* Tech writers do not make good usability experts
* I have avoided becoming a usability expert
* I am the closest thing our company has
* I do it, but only because no one else will
* No, and I do not want to be a usability expert
* Other/None of the above
