Additionally, at a previous employer I was dinged for having too many
errors in my draft-for-review document.

Apparently, 50% of my "reviewers" had run the PDF I sent through a
spell check and the spell check caught the hyphens used at line
breaks, so they flagged all of those as spelling errors and reported
me to my boss who was unhappy with me as a result. (The instructions
for the reviewers included no such directions.)

So, if you have such a corporate structure, avoid using hyphens to
break words across lines.
